The Syrian artist Sami Burhan from Aleppo, who I met at the Sincron gallery in Brescia and was struck by my original way of doing sculptures, invited me to his home in Syria to make models of works starting from his “drawings-writings” in Arabic.
I must admit the work gave very exciting results from an artistic point of view. Sami is an Arab alphabetist who knows how to organize letters and words in an amazing way.
It was a very interesting experience to transform these “words” into “sculptures” using the method of orthogonal intersections.
Some of these models have been displayed in the Pays de Cham 1989 gallery at the CHAHBA CHAM PALACE in Aleppo.
