Traditionally a sculpture can be created in either of two ways:

The "ADDING" method consists of adding material until the desired result is obtained.

The "REMOVING" method consists of taking away material until the work enclosed in it has been freed.

The method of orthogonal intersections has enabled me to discover the new, extremely fascinating technique of "SEPARATING".

While creating my latest sculptures, which I have called “harmonic intersections”, it dawned on me that with one single operation it is possible to make a variable number of sculptures simultaneously – a sort of three-dimensional puzzle that can be put back together to get the starting block.
This surprising result, too, is ascribable to the creative power of the method of "orthogonal intersections". May 1995 Guido Moretti
